Beschreibung
Strontium chloride hexahydrate is a precursor to prepare strontium chromate which is used as a corrosion inhibitor for aluminum. It is involved in the synthesis of cadmium sulfide core photocatalytic nanoparticles. It is used as a red coloring agent in pyrotechnics. Furthermore, it is utilized in glass-making and metallurgy. In the medical field, its radioactive isotope strontium-89 is used for the treatment of bone cancer. It acts as a catalyst in the conversion of ketones and aldehydes to the corresponding gem-dihydroperoxides using aqueous hydrogen peroxide.

AnwendungenStrontiumchlorid-Hexahydrat ist ein Vorläufer zur Herstellung von Strontiumchromat, das als Korrosionsschutzmittel für Aluminium verwendet wird. Es ist an der Synthese von photokatalytischen Nanopartikeln aus Cadmiumsulfid-Kernmaterial beteiligt. Es wird als roter Farbstoff in der Pyrotechnik verwendet. Außerdem wird es in der Glasherstellung und in der Metallurgie verwendet. In der Medizin wird sein radioaktives Isotop Strontium-89 zur Behandlung von Knochenkrebs eingesetzt. Es wirkt als Katalysator bei der Umwandlung von Ketonen und Aldehyden in die entsprechenden Gem-Dihydroperoxide unter Verwendung von wässrigem Wasserstoffperoxid.
Löslichkeit
Wasserlöslich. Geringfügig löslich in Ethanol und Aceton. Unlöslich in Ammoniak.
