1-Methoxy-2-methyl-1-(trimethylsiloxy)propene is used in the synthesis of chiral β-lactams by reacting with (S)-alkylidene(1-arylethyl)amines in the presence of titanium tetrachloride. It acts as a catalyst or initiator in the group-transfer polymerization. It is also used as a versatile reagent in conjugate addition4 and aldol reactions.

Anwendungen
1-Methoxy-2-methyl-1-(trimethylsiloxy)propen wird bei der Synthese chiraler β-lactame durch Reaktion mit (S)-alkyliden(1-arylethyl)aminen in Gegenwart von Titantetrachlorid verwendet. Es wirkt als Katalysator oder Initiator bei der Gruppentransferpolymerisation. Es wird auch als vielseitiges Reagenz bei Konjugat-Addition4 und Aldol-Reaktionen verwendet.

Es hydrolysiert in Wasser.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Inkompatible Materialien sind starke Oxidationsmittel und starke Säuren. Kühl lagern. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten.
